FAQ's

I do not see a role open at the moment, is there a way I can submit my CV anyway?

Yes! If you don’t see an open role that suits you and your talents but you want to be considered for future opportunities at Butternut, please submit your CV here. We will reach out to you if we think you’d be a good match for a role, when it opens.

Can I apply via email?

The short answer is no. You can apply to any of our open roles by following the link on each job post on this page, or through open posts that you find on job sites. We do ask that you apply via a job post as it enables us to process your personal data correctly & securely.

I interviewed/applied last year and wasn’t selected. Can I reapply?

Yes! We get many great candidates that don’t get an offer at the end of the process for a variety of reasons, it doesn’t mean that they couldn’t be a great match for the squad. If you see a role that matches your experience and interest, we encourage you to apply. Who knows, second time could be the charm.

How can I prepare for my interview?

Interviews can be nerve-wracking and most of us have had the  “Oh I wish said that” after one! We want you to be able answer our questions confidently and concisely, so while there are many different interview answer methods we recommend brushing up on one of our favourites, the STAR method (S- Situation, T- Task, A- Action, R- Result)  These types of responses are clearly structured and really help to tell the story behind your answer. We also recommend reading up on our values and thinking about how you connect to them.

How do you promote diversity, equity, and inclusion at Butternut?

At Butternut Box, we understand and value that every team member is unique and should be supported to do amazing work as their authentic selves, inclusive of all genders, sexual orientations, ethnicities, races, educational backgrounds, ages, and other personal characteristics. Inclusion is about embracing those magic differences and creating a safe environment where everyone can come to work. Just as they are.

It’s because of this ongoing dedication to diversity, equity and inclusion that we’re not afraid of going the extra mile for candidates from underrepresented groups. We want strong, diverse teams built from different backgrounds, experiences, and identities. We’re ready for the ongoing work that goes into building an inclusive, supportive place for you to do the best work of your career.

How can I make my application stand out?

We really appreciate the time and effort you put into your application. Here are some further steps you can take to make your application even better.

As much as you can, tailor your CV to the position you are applying for. Ask yourself, is there something in my CV that is not relevant to the job advertised that I could remove and instead expand on the experience that is relevant? Also, make sure to highlight your achievements and show the impact you caused in your previous roles.

If submitting a cover letter, we encourage you to create one that shows why are you applying to Butternut and what makes you a great candidate for the role. Also, have fun with it and talk about your love for dogs and our values and mission. Not required, but we do love a good dog pun.

In a nutshell, tailor your CV and cover letter to the job you are applying for and show your passion for Butternut Box, dogs and how you connect to our values.
