Dedicated and Determined

  • We work hard together to make things happen (tail wags are at a max)
  • We don’t wait to be told, we drive and believe results speak louder than barks.
  • We don’t just tell you what we’re going to do, we show you.

Open and Honest

  • Dogs are our best friends and relationships are built on trust.
  • Doing right by dogs and the community is our biggest priority.
  • We seek honest feedback.
  • We know we aren't pawfect.

Genuine Care

  • We want to leave dogs and humans smiling after every interaction.
  • We take care in our work.
  • We understand the weight of this responsibility. We are caring for a member of the family.

The perks of being part of the Squad

Being part of our energetic, creative, kind, and high-performing Squad is a bit like being in a big, mildly weird family, but with fewer arguments at Christmas time. We try to be the people our dogs think we are. We do everything for the love of dogs but we also like to show the love to our squad too. These are some of the ways we do just that. Hugs not included.

Meet some of the team

"Every single day, I am proud of what I do. I get such joy in seeing how my work helps to feed happy and healthy dogs, and hearing from our fantastic customers is just the cherry on top. Everyone here provides me with the confidence and the knowledge to excel in my position and I’m glad that I can call each one of them friends.”

James, Engineering Team Lead

"At Butternut Box, I feel like I’m part of a close-knit family, not just an elite workforce.

I feel respected and valued, and thankfully my hard work and dedication has led to promotion. In under two years, I’ve progressed from brand ambassador to Regional Manager. Now, I manage a team of 20, overseeing sales and business development operations across the South West."

Kyle, Regional Sales Manager

"I enjoy being at Butternut because of the trust and respect I get as an employee. Strategic decisions are openly, clearly and timely communicated, accountability and intellectual stimulation are a given, and internal processes are always reviewed for efficiency. I’m lucky to work alongside people that challenge me and support both my professional and personal growth."

Iva, UX Designer

"I'm very lucky to come in to work each day alongside such a wonderful community of dog fanatics.

Butternut Box has been invaluable in my personal and professional growth as a member of the tech team— I haven't stopped learning about new technologies, dog nutrition, and weird dog facts since I joined in 2018."

Carolina, Front End Developer

"Working at Butternut no two days are the same, you're always encouraged to try something new and build on the skills you have to achieve your goals. My current role is working within the Customer Love team where I talk to all our pup parents on multiple platforms, as well as our potential customers to help them on their way to becoming fully fledged Butternutters."

Karim, Customer Love Representative

"As founders, Kev and Dave have set extremely solid foundations as the business scales by honing in on relevant metrics, inviting discussion while trusting the team to make the right decisions and most importantly, by being transparent. This cascades down within Butternut, as we strive to build an engaged, ambitious and productive team.

If you are thrilled by dogs and operational excellence, you've come to the right page."

Lin, Head of Operations

Pip - Creative Copawdinator

Pip goes by several names (Pippy, Pippington, Sir Pips A Lot), but he's most famous for starring in photoshoots with the Brand and Creative team. His notable appearances include modelling the Butternut bandanas (he's Team Red, but looks equally good in blue), and of course who could forget his iconic spider costume.

When he's not in front of the camera, Pip goes in search of inspiration for his creative genius. He likes to drop in on meetings to see what the other teams are up to, and if you need a test audience for a presentation - Pip's your guy.

Pugwash - The Captain

Not many people know that the legendary pirate Captain Pugwash is actually a Labrador - funny how the stories never mention it. Having travelled the world, Pugwash is now semi-retired, but he visits the Butternut office every now and then to make sure things are shipshape.

It's customary to salute the Captain when he arrives, but if you forget just give him a fish treat and all will be forgiven. Pugwash's main duties are with the Customer Love team, and he can solve any problem with a hug.

Gizmo - Pooch Procurement Assistant

Butternut is always on the lookout for new talent, and there's noone better than Gizmo to sniff it out. Giz was headhunted by MI6 to be the UK's first canine secret agent (he can steal anything from anyone, especially if it contains cheese), but he chose to work for Butternut instead.

Gizmo's day-to-day responsibilities include patrolling the office for unattended bags, and helping the People Team with interviews. Hint - if you want to get him on side, he'll meet you at the front desk for a treat and put in a good word with Kev and Dave.

Bella - Chief Barketing Officer

If you don't recognise this sassy little Cavapoo, all we can say is where have you been? Bella is the ultimate Butternutter; she knows our recipes better than anyone, and she can pick our treats out of a lineup in two seconds..

Bella rules with an iron paw from her throne at the Marketing desk, but she can be won over with belly rubs. She's the glamorous face of Butternut, and nothing goes on in the office without her say-so.

Meet Willow

If loving this is wrong I don't want to be right..
The radiator. Beside it, under it, on it. Don’t knock it until you try it.

Give me travel tips for..
The inside of your bag - preferably the one you carry your lunch and snacks in.

How my mother would describe me..
A thief. But an exceptionally cute one.

Where to find me at the party...
Underneath the buffet. Obviously.

Meet Nala

We're the same type of weird if..
You also can only pee in a human toilet. You heard me.

My most irrational fear..
Anything on wheels. An office full of whiteboards (AKA UFOs) is very triggering for me. But I am working with my therapist on this, step by step. Or rather, wheel by wheel.

The best way to ask me out..
Use a high pitched voice. It works every time.

A note from Kev and Dave

What do we look for in new hires?
For us, we are always looking for people who are inspired by our purpose and fit our value set. Butternut exists to deliver health and happiness to dogs and their humans, so if you genuinely care about that mission, are dedicated & determined, open & honest and always striving for better, we would love to hear from you!
How important the employees at Butternut are;
We have been really proud to see Butternut grow from strength to strength over the last four years. Our customers have been amazing supporters of what we are trying to do, but so much of our success is down to the amazing team that we have been fortunate enough to build.

We are so lucky to have such a hard working, talented and intrinsically motivated group of people to come to work with every day, and for us, the best part of the job is the people we work with. We have come a long way since it was just me & Kev delivering dog food in our white van, and we are so thankful for all of the team's incredibly hard work to get us here!
Why is Butternut is a great place to work?
Butternut is a place for people who care deeply about our customers (both dog and human) that we look after. It is a place where you will be surrounded by people who are always looking to become better at what we do on a daily basis.

It is a place where you can be free to be your true self and where transparent communication, speaking your mind and honesty are the blocks that Butternut has been built on.

Lastly, it is a place where we like to have fun - we love a bit of weirdness in our day to day - think tiger king morning kick offs.
What to expect if you come to work at Butternut?
The most exciting thing of all is we are only at the beginning of our mission. There are so many more challenges ahead, growth opportunities to avail of and most importantly there are so many dogs to feed and care for all over Europe.
